International was created out of the need for a
specialist organization to assist people wishing to immigrate,
volunteer, work, bring family, study or open businesses in South
Africa.
Tens of thousands of illegal migrants were allowed to stay in the
country after telling police that they were British or EU citizens, a
report has found. In response, MPs have accused the police of "taking
their eye off the ball" on immigration.
In a front page exposé in the Pretoria News on 13 October 2016,
Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, asked for forgiveness from
"ordinary citizens" at the Centurion Home Affairs office for lengthy
queues, poor communication and lack of professionalism. While this
photo opportunity no doubt revealed real problems at one particular
office, Minister Gigaba has so much more to apologise for.
Before new measures, immigration queues at OR Tambo were taking an
average of three hours to clear.
Malusi Gigaba says the process at the 11 application centres set up
throughout the country will continue until December 31.(SABC)
Pretoria — Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba has officially launched
the department's contact centre at the department's head office in
