South Africa Sets Permits Collection Deadline for Zimbabweans

Source: Voice of America, 15/08/2015

WASHINGTON— The South African Department of Home Affairs issued an
advisory Friday urging Zimbabweans who were granted permits under a
special dispensation to collect their papers before September 30.
The Home Affairs also advised those who might have missed their
appointments for collection and those wanting to know the status of
their applications to visit the nearest VSF Global Center anytime from
Monday through Saturday.
Permits which are not collected by the set date will be returned to
the department, the advisory said.
More than 200,000 Zimbabweans applied for permits but authorities have
yet to issue a statistical breakdown of how many permits were granted,
or denied.
Chairman Ngqabutho Mabhena of the Zimbabwe Community in South Africa
told VOA failing to comply with the Home Affairs directive might
complicate things for applicants.
