THE Japanese government has opened the doors of higher learning to
South Africans interested in pursuing postgraduate studies.

The Japanese embassy in SA on Wednesday called on prospective master`s
students to apply for an ABE scholarship, which would not only give
successful applicants access to the country`s education system but
also expose them to its corporate culture.

The embassy opened the application process for the two-year
scholarship in August and it is scheduled to close on October 31
2015.

The programme is open to students throughout Africa. The embassy said
it envisioned that 1,000 African students would be invited to study in
Japan over a five-year period.

A total of 14 South Africans were accepted into the programme in 2014,
while 35 others are scheduled to depart for Japan at the end of August
2015.
