Home Affairs opens up applications for smart IDs

If you live in Gauteng, you can now apply for a smart ID. Previously,
smart IDs were only issued to the elderly and people who had lost ID
books.

Home Affairs Gauteng head Albert Matsaung on Monday spoke to John
Robbie about the opening of the new stage of applications for smart
IDs.

We are opening up for Gauteng province for the application of the
Smart [ID] card. We have offices we have dedicated to smart cards,
which the public can use.

• JOHANNESBURG REGIONAL OFFICE - 77 C/O Harrison & Plein Street
• SOWETO REGIONAL OFFICE - C/O Kumalo & Armitage Street, Orlando West,

• THUSONG DISTRICT OFFICE - MAPONYA MALL (SOWETO) Shop 368, Maponya

• ALEXANDRA Medium Office (WYNBERG) - 725 Fortuna House, 4th Street,
Wynberg
