Trade responds to traveller increase

Source: Tourism update, 14/01/2016

Members of the trade have responded to traveller statistics released
by Home Affairs.

"This holiday period alone we lost R34 000 000 in revenue" - Tourism
Update asked the trade for their thoughts on the Minister of Home
Affairs statement that arrivals in South Africa over the peak period
of December 1 to January 7 saw a 7% increase in foreign
travellers.

Some members of the trade argued that the increase in tourist arrivals
should have been higher due to the weakening rand. However, most were
left baffled by the numbers.
