Minister Mkhize asks for patience as she settle into Home Affairs dept

JOHANNESBURG â€" Newly appointed Home Affairs Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize
says this has been an important week for her as she has been
familiarising herself with legislation and departmental
policies.

Newly appointed Home Affairs Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize briefed the
media for the first time on Thursday since being appointed by
President Jacob Zuma last week.

She takes over from Malusi Gigaba who is now Finance Minister.

She says she has been well received by her team and has asked South
Africans to be patient as she settles into her new position.

I have had people asking me lots of questions regarding my new
position but I am very pleased to tell you that since I joined the
department I was well received by my colleagues led by the Deputy
Minister and the Director-General.
