Exactly a month ago, The Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs called
for officials working front of house and interacting with clients to
be banned from using their cellphones during working hours.
If you’ve ever visited a Home Affairs office, you know it won’t be a
quick visit.
However, Marius Botha ran into Nosipho Mkhupheka in KwaZulu-Natal.
Nosipho works at the Scottburgh home affairs.
Marius Botha explained, ‘Today (Friday) at 16:00 all her colleagues
left their workstations and went home. Mrs Mkhupheka stayed and help
the last 40 customers all on her own and with a smile on her face!!!
You are my hero. South Africa needs more people like you. Thank you.
We salute you.”
The post has been shared more than 12,000 times for all the right reasons!
The post was seen by Nosipho’s daughter and she proudly said, ‘Wow
that’s my mommy ❤️She’s like that in real life. She’s a person you can
call anytime and she always does her best to help others. Can’t wait
to screengrab this and send it to her to ensure she knows she’s
appreciated.’
The Department of Public Service and Administration tweeted about the
special woman, saying: ‘By virtue of her extraordinary actions, Ms
Nosipho Mkhupheka is an exemplary public servant who executed her
responsibilities by placing the needs of the people first: We thank
her most sincerely. She is outstanding.`
The home affairs minister Siyabonga Cwele paid a visit to Nosipho
Mkhupheka on Monday to give thanks!
