I wish to Apply for an Asylum Seeker Permit

These days applying for asylum as a new comer is an extremely slow process which can take months to a year or so due to a new online system which sounds fantastic but actually adds to the slow process because once you apply online to a dedicated email address which when you send off your application you get an automated email confirming you have applied and that is where you nightmare begins .
You need to understand prior to Covid 19 in March 2020 was the last time new comer applications for asylum was processed and the system only opened up again for newcomers on 2 May 2022 , two years later . You need to be aware that there easily 50,000 new comers waiting to be processed. Now prior to Covid 19 , the department only processed around 100 new comers a day at its offices with queues of around 1500 plus queuing to get inside every day , a hopeless talk leading to bribery and corruption to get inside , Pictures were regularly published showing long queues waiting to get inside resulting in people sleeping outside for weeks to get inside and or to be first in the queue each morning .
The online system is now even worse , where you had queues of people standing outside putting pressure on management but now no one actually knows how many are processed per day and we think maybe 50 people are given appointments per day , with some centres already running into appointments 4 to 6 months in the future leading to much stress as home affairs / law enforcement continue to round up illegal foreigners and detaining them for deportation . Remember there is a view that Asylum seekers are taking South Africans jobs so the department is in no hurry to issue any documents .

Process works as follows :
Present yourself at a border and get a Form23 , a transit Visa
Present Transit Visa at Refugee Center in South Africa
This system is in a mess because it does not address people that have been here in SA for years and border never gives anyone the Form 23 so when you arrive to start the asylum registration process and you don’t have form 23 ( transit visa ) you are told to return when you have one .
Now for a new asylum seeker doing this for the first time it is quite a daunting task , but for us who have helped thousands it is a simple process where you will have the benefit of our experience .
There is a Constitutional Court judgement that says you can apply any time but law enforcement don’t know that .
