The department has released a statement saying that Simphiwe Hlophe was in charge of IT (Information Technology) concerns such network failures, system unavailability, and IT capability, all of which have an impact on the agency`s overall performance.
According to the report, Hlophe also approved an invoice from SITA for work that was never completed. Using a credit note from SITA, he allowed more spending, including the purchase of routers and switches that he later claimed were already in use but were really stored away.

`We are on a clear path to improved governance and greater service delivery,` Minister of Home Affairs Aaron Motsoaledi stated. The success or failure of the Department rests squarely on the shoulders of each and every one of its employees. Take ownership of the assignments you`re assigned; doing so will go a long way.
