International was created out of the need for a
specialist organization to assist people wishing to immigrate,
volunteer, work, bring family, study or open businesses in South
Africa.
Pretoria - Long queues, hours of waiting and the endless filling in of
forms at the Department of Home Affairs will soon be a thing of the
past, with the introduction of live capturing, the smart card and
other aspects of the modernisation of the much-maligned department.
The new and improved technology-driven eHome Affairs (electronic Home
Affairs) will take a segment of the population out of the offices and
allow them access to an online platform where they can make
applications and pay for them.
Home Office granted powers to snoop on detention centre refugees three
years ago by amendment to 20-year-old Police Act
Immigration officials have been permitted to hack the phones of
refugees and asylum seekers, including rape and torture victims, for
the past three years.
It took Cape Town residents Steven Nicholson and his wife two years
and endless paperwork to get their adopted child's birth certificate.
When he adopted a second child it took another two years of hassling
the Department of Home Affairs to provide their child's birth certificate.
Cape Town - A state visit this past weekend to Saudi Arabia will
ensure continued private sector investment in South Africa's renewable
energy and petrochemical sectors, banking and finance and tourism
infrastructure, the Presidency said on Monday.
Last month, Groundup reported on Tracey (not her real name), a
Zimbabwean woman who was desperate after she was refused to re-enter
South Africa on 6 January, even though she had the correct papers.
The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has now removed the restrictions.
Despite the large number of arrivals, more work needs to be done.
While South Africa received a record 1 012 641 tourist arrivals in
January, exceeding the million tourists arrivals mark for the first
time ever, more work needs to be done for the country to recover lost
market share.
Pretoria — The Department of Home Affairs has introduced a new
application system at its Marabastad centre in Pretoria, to ease the
process for foreign nationals applying for permits and asylum documents.
Introduced at the end of January, the newly introduced box system has
brought some relief to foreign nationals as they no longer have to
stand in long queues to get their documents processed. It has also put
a halt on corrupt activities. SA
